- Pre-operative counsel must be given before piercing

- Proper hand washing practiced
- See their autoclave (steriliser) and spore tests
- New needles, never reused or sterilised
- Does the studio seem clean
- Ask your friends where they got pierced
- Use your instincts
- Piercing guns cannot be sterilised and should not be used
- Ask questions of the staff and the piercer
- Do they have an aftercare sheet
- Does the studio have a license to operate
- Check to see the studios age requirements
