  • Pre-operative counsel must be given before piercing
  • Piercers must wear gloves
  • Appropriate lighting
  • Proper hand washing practiced
  • See their autoclave (steriliser) and spore tests
  • New needles, never reused or sterilised
  • Does the studio seem clean
  • Ask your friends where they got pierced
  • Use your instincts
  • Piercing guns cannot be sterilised and should not be used
  • Ask questions of the staff and the piercer
  • Do they have an aftercare sheet
  • Does the studio have a license to operate
  • Check to see the studios age requirements
  • See the piercing rooms and setup
