Kensington continues as one of the few open-air markets in North America.

Around 1922, customers arrive for live chickens at Morris Zamonsky's at 18 Kensington Avenue. There were several kosher slaughterers in the market and women who were employed to pluck the birds, for those who didnt want to do it themselves.
