St. Stephen's Community House Conflict resolution service, daycare, Aids/HIV education, Pre/post-natal program. St. Stephens Community House was established under the auspices of the Diocese of Toronto of the Anglican Church, linked to the Church of St. Stephens-in-the-Fields. In 1974, the House became a separate incorporated non-profit charitable organization with an elected Board of Directors with its first home, 91 Bellevue. St. Stephens Community House became a United Way member agency in 1975. The agency provides a range of services to newcomers, seniors, children and youth, homeless, and the community. It has been listed in Heritage Torontos Inventory of Heritage Properties in 1980. |
No. 8 Hose Station was falling into disrepair. In the midst of deciding if it should be renovated or torn down an arsonist lit a major fire at the station, causing serious damage. The Fire department decided to restore the station to its original state. |
